After one of Baylor’s best players suffered an injury and Notre Dame went on a big run, Baylor managed to pull out the victory at the end of the game against Notre Dame by one point on April 7th. The Bears ended the game with a score of 82 - 81, making them the third team with three or more titles (Tennessee and UConn).

Baylor had a lead for most of the game, but things started heading downwards for the Bears when Lauren Cox suffered a leg injury at the end of the third quarter and was unable to play for the rest of the game. Notre Dame was gaining on Baylor throughout the fourth quarter and tied the game at 74 with 5:18 left. Lead changed back and forth and with 3.9 seconds left, Chloe Jackson made a layup putting Baylor in the lead with a score of 82 - 80. Notre Dame had a chance to tie it when Ogunbowale was fouled and recieved two free throws. Ogunbowale missed the first and made the second. After that both teams failed to score and the game ended 82 - 81 in Baylor’s favor.

This game was a very emotional one for Baylor’s coach, Kim Mulkey. "I'm emotional for a lot of reasons, but mostly for Lauren Cox, and I'm so happy," Mulkey said. "These are tears of joy, but they're also tears of thinking about injuries." In the end, Baylor they they needed to win for Cox.
