Cornerback Kaiir Elam Goes To Florida

Kaiir Elam is a very high rated cornerback that’s coming out of high school. He was ranked the 6th cornerback prospect on National Signing Day and ranked 59th player in ESPN’s rankings. Kaiir’s dad played in the NFL named Abe Elam.

Kaiir decided that he wanted to go to the University of Florida. That wasn’t the case at first though. Before he decided that he was going to go to Florida he actually planned on going to Georgia. “I just tried to weigh out my pros and cons for each school. And I felt like Florida had the most pros and the least cons for me,” he said once he made the decision.

Kaiir also says that it was a family decision. Turns out that Kaiir had an uncle that played football for Florida so that probably gave them an edge over Georgia. Allegedly, this may have upset Georgia and in retaliation, they hired Florida’s defensive backs coach Charlton Warren at the time. Florida recovered by hiring former defensive backs coach Torrian Gray from the NFL.
