Google has revealed its new gaming platform which is called Stadia. Google claims that Stadia will have the capability to stream games at a quality superior to that of any console, such as the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, etc. The games that run on Stadia will have to be purchased like with any console, from a physical store or downloaded digitally. Phil Harrison, Google’s head of gaming, has confirmed that Stadia will function on all devices such as PCs, TVs, and even phones.
Harrison said, “Hundreds of millions of people watch gaming content on YouTube every single day. Our vision is to bring those worlds together.” This means that while watching a gaming related YouTube video, you can press a button on the controller and it will launch the game in the video. In addition to the platform, Google has also designed and constructed a special controller for Stadia. The controller looks similar to the Xbox One controller, except it has a button that can record gameplay and upload it to YouTube. Presently, there is no pricing information available for Stadia. It is expected that all of the games on Stadia will run at 4K resolution with up to 60 fps and there may be a more powerful version coming later that will run at 8K resolution with 120 fps.
