President Trump signed a bill on Thursday into law. The bill legalizes industrial hemp nationwide. The law will go into effect in January. Hemp is a cannabis plant that does not intoxicate you when you use it. This is different from other cannabis plants. Hemp is mainly used for food, medicine, textiles, and fuel. It had originally been categorized with other drugs like heroin, LSD, and other forms of marijuana. Hemp might be legal now, but it is still heavily regulated. The Hemp is only legal for farmers growing it and scientists researching it for medical benefits. The hemp also can’t contain more than 0.3% THC. The FDA stated that hemp could not be sold over state lines. After the bill was signed into law, the stocks of many cannabis companies rose because the bill is a such a huge benefit to cannabis companies.
