On Monday morning, former US President Jimmy Carter broke his hip after he fell at his home before going turkey hunting. After he broke his hip, Carter underwent surgery and is now recovering. The Carter Center released a statement on the matter, which read, “While leaving to go turkey hunting this morning, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter fell at his home in Plains, Georgia. He is recovering comfortably from surgery to repair a broken hip at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. His surgeon stated that the surgery was successful. His wife, Rosalynn, is with him. President Carter said his main concern is that turkey season ends this week, and he has not reached his limit. He hopes the State of Georgia will allow him to rollover the unused limit to next year.”

Donald Trump took to Twitter to wish Carter a speedy recovery after news broke out that he had broken his hip. “Wishing former President Jimmy Carter a speedy recovery from his hip surgery earlier today,” Trump tweeted. “He was in such good spirits when we spoke last month - he will be fine!”
